Romans 8:2 is an important word that explains why the declaration spoken in verse 1, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,” is possible. This word shows that there are two laws within a person. One is the law of sin and death, and the other is the law of the Spirit who gives life in Jesus Christ. Because the law of the Spirit is stronger than the law of sin and death, it liberates the born-again person from the power of sin and death. Therefore, the person who is in Jesus Christ by believing in the gospel of the water and the Spirit is no longer under condemnation, but comes to live in the new life given by the Holy Spirit.
